About Dr. Coursey
Dr. Joshua Coursey received his general surgery training at Houston Methodist Hospital, where he was heavily involved in resident surgical education. He went on to complete his colon and rectal surgery fellowship training from the University of Texas at Houston Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Coursey is an associate of Houston Colon, PLLC and his practice focuses on advanced minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery for malignant and benign diseases of the colon and rectum. Additionally, Dr. Coursey is a specialist in the treatment of anorectal disorders including hemorrhoids, anal fistulas, fissures, pelvic floor disorders, and fecal incontinence. He is a devotee of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery practices, which help minimize patients’ postoperative pain and length of hospital stay. Dr. Coursey’s research interests include applying modern simulation technology to surgical education and investigating surgical outcomes associated with advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. Dr. Coursey is a double Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He resides in the Houston area with his wife and two children. Outside of medicine, Dr. Coursey is an avid guitar player and enjoys participating in photography and visual arts.
